There are a few decorating tips that everyone should know so I've taken the liberty of noting them down:

• If you want a cheery looking room, yellow is the best choice. It can never look dark or gloomy, no matter what you do!

• To make your room look bigger, push out the furniture to the edges. To make the room look warm and comfy, push the furniture in, but not too much to make it look like a crowded rat-hole.

• Try to make the palette match your personality. If you're cheery and fun, no need to make the room black, even if its 'in'.

• If you live in a warm country, try a light colour in your room. If it's freezing, try darker colours.

• If you're feminine, no need to make it pink, purple, or anything girly. Or, you don't have to make the room dark blue to show you're a guy.

• Colours show personality. here are a few popular ones:

Blue: calm, serene
Yellow: bright and cheery
Pink: girly (kinda feminist, but it's the truth!)
Green: Sporty and active
Black: Dark and broody
